Green Building is a building that is meticulously designed, constructed, and operated by taking into consideration the use of resources, energy, and environment with efficiency and adeptness. It commences from the selection of the location, construction, and all the way to the utilization of the building to reduce environmental impact, pollution, energy consumption, and water consumption, while enhance the quality of life of the building users.
Green building also encompasses various features that enable the building to adapt to the constantly changing environment throughout its useful life. The specific characteristics that contribute to the sustainability of the building include:
Efficient use of energy, water and other resources
Use of renewable energy, such as solar energy
Pollution and waste reduction measures, and the enabling of re-use and recycling
Good indoor environmental air quality
Use of materials that are non-toxic, ethical and sustainable
Consideration of the environment in design, construction and operation
Consideration of the quality of life of occupants in design, construction and
operation
A design that enables adaptation to a changing environment
"Research and Development Center with Platinum Green Building Award"
In 2015, the Company constructed a new Research and Development Center to support the increased
potential and capacity of research and development of products in Thailand. With the commitment
to environmental sustainability in accordance with Daikin’s policy and the conformity to the
concept of product development that emphasizes on utilizing energy and resources with optimal
efficiency, this building was designed under the concept of green building in all aspects. The
building’s architecture, landscape architecture, electric power system, water system, and air
conditioning system were designed to embrace the characteristics of green building, in addition
to its use of renewable energy. The building was evaluated by Thai Green Building Institute
according to the criteria of Thai’s Rating of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (TREES),
and received the “Platinum Award” on April 4, 2017.
"Received a score of 63 out of 85 points"
TREES-NC has the evaluation criteria under eight topics, each with varying points depending on
the importance. The rating system has a total of 85 points.
The evaluation of each topic comprises of two types: prerequisite topics and credit topics.
All prerequisite topics must be satisfied before the credit topics can be evaluated. The total
score will be used to determine the award level. There are a total of four levels, consisting of
Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Certified, with Platinum being the highest level. This project
received full points for four prerequisite topics with a total score of 63 points. Hence, it was
granted with the Platinum award.
"Optimal Energy Efficiency with Lower Energy Consumption By Up to 43%"
1. Building Envelop“The building envelope was cleverly designed by contemplating the amount of
heat from all directions to minimize heat gain of the building.”
2.Natural Lighting and High-Efficiency Light Bulb
“Natural light is used in the hallway, while ultra-efficient LEDs are used throughout the
building
3. High-Efficiency Air Conditioning System "High-efficiency air conditioning
products from using VRV-IV for cooling systems."
Variable Refrigerant Temperature (VRT)
Daikin’s VRT technology automatically can adjusts refrigerant temperatures to
environmental requirements, to improving both energy efficiency and comfort.
During cooling, the evaporating temperature is raised as close as possible to the
condensing temperature. However, during heating, the opposite occurs. This means the compressors work less, reducing power consumption.
High Efficiency during Partial Load Operation
Partial load operation refers to operation with a load of less than 100%. It usually
occurs when there is only a small difference between the outdoor temperature and air
conditioner’s set temperature. This type of operation accounts for approximately 90%
of the annual running time of air conditioning units (1).
To boost efficiency during these periods, Compressors are core components and their
performance is directly linked to the motor
Daikin was the first to deploy DC inverter technology, such as our Reluctance DC
motor in commercial systems for scroll compressors (2).
“Lower air conditioning load than the ventilation system through the use of heat reclaim ventilation (HRV). (Heat Reclaim Ventilation)
A standard ventilation system only simply delivers hot and cold outdoor air into a
building in summer and winter.
Daikin has deployed a heat reclaim ventilation (HRV) also recovers heat energy losses
and minimises temperature changes caused by ventilation.
The technology decreases air conditioning load by around 23% compared to a
ventilation system. Adoption of HRV has helped to significantly reduce the energy
demand required to lower the temperature of fresh air
4. Renewable Energy “Installation of 30kW solar system.”
5. Building Energy Management System
“Effective energy management through i-Touch Manager (iTM).” Scheduling Control / Interlock System

Intelligent Touch Controller
Intelligent Touch Controller uses VRV control system that can be operated without the need of
computer by touching the color LCD screen and icons on the touch-screen control panel. This
remarkable feature ensures that Intelligent Touch Controller can be used effortlessly in a
similar manner as regular wireless remote controls.
Intuitive user interface
Intuitive menu screens enable, even novice users to operate and monitor the system like an
expert.
List view
Designed for simplicity, this menu provides a quick view of overall status and essential
information in a list format. Using the sorting function, air conditioning units operating under
the same conditions and status are identified for comparison and assessment.
Layout view
A special feature utilizes building floor plans to provide a visual representation of system
equipment. Without having to memorise equipment names, users can visually locate any installed
equipment by searching its position on the floor plan. By selecting the indoor unit, all main
functions are directly accessible.
