Research & Development Center
“Research and Development” is unquestionably the starting point of the success of products
with high quality and standards. Daikin has realized the importance of “research and
development” and therefore has continually invested in strengthening “Research and
Development Centers” across the globe, both in the aspects of human resources and advanced
technology, in order to design and develop products in correspondence to the market demand,
with an emphasis on maximum customer satisfaction.
Hub of Research & Development in ASEAN-Oceania
Daikin’s Research and Development Center in Thailand was established in 2005 to support the
expansion of air conditioning business in ASEAN-Oceania and fulfil the surge in real demand
of air conditioners. The Company emphasizes on continuously increasing the capacity of
product research and development on the foundation of developing products with cutting-edge
innovation and specific patents granted by Innovation Center in Japan. Until now, the
Company has successfully developed a comprehensive array of products from residential air
conditioners to commercial air conditioners, with the ultimate goals to become the leading
manufacturer and distributor of high-quality air conditioners and the hub of research and
development in ASEAN-Oceania.

design process all the way to the analysis, evaluation, and development of products. We also

R&D Laboratories
"State-of-the-art testing laboratories to provide standardized products"
This Product Research and Development Center encompasses cutting-edge testing laboratories that
display accurate and comprehensive results with the ability to perform various types of tests to
identify the perfection of products in all aspects and minimize the risk of damages to the
products. The laboratories can be classified into five main groups, as follows:
Test the energy efficiency of Daikin with reference to the standards and requirements
corresponding to each particular country in order to obtain accurate and relevant results
that are in accordance with the demand of the targeted country.
Model the weather conditions and electric power system in the laboratory to correspond to
the requirements of each particular country in order to instill confidence in customers that
our products can function normally with no problem or effect on other nearby products.
Test the durability of the product, including the spare parts of the product, by
contemplating the aspects of work function or usage to ensure that the product was assembled
from standardized parts. In addition, the durability of the product against damage as a
result of transportation and the durability of various spare parts throughout the product’s
life cycle are also examined.
One of the unique features of Daikin’s products is that the products have low sound level
and cause minimal disturbances to the users and people nearby. Hence, the sound quality
testing does not only emphasize on the loudness level, but also the quality of sound in
various conditions to correspond to the actual product usage.
The product safety testing must be in accordance with the standards and regulations of each
country and must contemplate the safety from abnormal use of products. These tests will
model various situations that may lead to hazard as a result of improper use of products in
order to ensure that the products embrace durability or sufficient protection system.
